Step By Step Guide
1. Get in Touch
Contact us to speak with a friendly, knowledgeable employment law expert who will guide you through the next steps.
2. Remote Consultation
You will be given a remote consultation with one of our specialist lawyers to discuss your aims and what you require from your settlement agreement.
3. Independent Legal Review
It is a legal requirement that you obtain independent advice before signing a settlement agreement. Our expert lawyers will carefully review the terms, explain them in plain English, and give you a clear opinion on whether the proposal is in your best interests. If necessary, we can negotiate with your employer to secure fair terms.
4. Assess Your Potential Claims
Before accepting terms, consider whether you could bring claims such as unfair dismissal, discrimination (age, gender, disability, etc.), breach of contract, or unpaid holiday or notice pay. Your lawyer will provide advice on these potential claims and how they impact your settlement.
5. Negotiate if Necessary
You do not have to accept the first offer. Your solicitor can negotiate on your behalf for better terms, such as higher compensation, extended notice, a reference, or removal of restrictive clauses.
6. Sign the Agreement
Signing is by DocuSign. With a successful offer and your best interests upheld, your settlement agreement is finalised. Your employer pays our fees directly to us.
